88. Al-Ghaashiyah - The Overwhelming
| 1 | Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! |
| 2 | Many a face will be disgraced on that day. |
| 3 | Labouring, striving hard. |
| 4 | (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. |
| 5 | Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. |
| 6 | There is no food for them except thorns of fire. |
| 7 | Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. |
| 8 | Many a face will be in serenity on that day. |
| 9 | Rejoicing over their efforts. |
| 10 | In a high Garden. |
| 11 | In which they will not hear any lewd speech. |
| 12 | In it is a flowing spring. |
| 13 | In which are high thrones. |
| 14 | And chosen goblets. |
| 15 | And arranged carpets. |
| 16 | And linen spread out. |
| 17 | So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? |
| 18 | And the heaven – how it has been raised? |
| 19 | And the mountains – how they have been established? |
| 20 | And the earth – how it has been spread out? |
| 21 | Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) |
| 22 | You are not at all a guardian over them. |
| 23 | Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – |
| 24 | So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. |
| 25 | Indeed only towards Us is their return |
| 26 | Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. |
